SANTOS BARBOSA Santos Barbosa was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in the 1960s where he has resided ever since. Santos is primarily a self taught painter with strong influences from the works of Charles Russell and Frederic Remington. He has spent years researching the Southwest at the turn of the century for his paintings. Santos is represented by Nuevo Santander Gallery (McAllen, Texas) and El Presidio Gallery (Tucson, Arizona). His work is included in collections worldwide. Santos has developed a distinctive impressionistic style using vivid colors to capture the mood and heritage of a bygone era.
