BOB GUELICH
Bob Guelich may have become infatuated with
birds when he was a child. The son of an Air Force pilot, Guelich
was born in Flint, Michigan in 1944, but he bounced around through such
exotic mailing addresses as Puerto Rico and Trinidad before settling in
San Antonio when he was about 10.
After completing high school and a brief
stint in the United States Coast Guard, Bob earned a living as an
engraver while painting a variety of subjects. In 1974, Bob changed
gears dramatically and sold his inventory of paintings to pursue
sculpting. To this day, Bob still vacillates between wax and clay as
his sculpting medium, struggling to find the perfect formula. Best
known for his painted bronzes, Bob never has difficulty picking subject
matter.
