Alma De Maria This retablo depicts the decent of the Holy Ghost upon Mary and the announcement of her Incarnation. She is pictured as a young girl with her hands together in front of her and wearing a crown of roses. The garland of roses may be a carryover from a device used to allude to the rosary commonly found in Renaissance Art. She holds a staff of lilies in one arm as a symbol of her purity. Although this image is not abundant in retablo art, the subject is not uncommon.
