Santiago
(Saint James The Greater)

Santiago is a protector against all ills and was the patron saint of Spanish soldiers during the conquest of Mexico.  The saint is depicted atop a white horse and carrying a banner while he tramples upon a Moor.  The saint is usually portrayed as being quite larger than his victim.  This is a very scarce piece and dates from around 1650.
